There's a whole universe inside that little head...

I should be putting dd down for her nap, but instead I'm sitting here Mumsnetting and listening to her play with her dolls' house. There is, there's a whole universe inside her head, populated by an infinite number of characters: the elephant on the ceiling, Jane and Michael (from Mary Poppins), the daddy frog who bakes cakes in the bath, Make-Way-For-Noddy, the swan, the Baby-Dolls (all three of them, although two are in gaol at the moment), Old MacDonald, not to mention all the 'real' people she knows, and most of them seem to be making their appearance in a fairly complicated drama taking place in and around the dolls' house. I hate to break up the party and put her down for her nap,

It's so good being a parent .

Aaaaah, what a magic moment...it makes it all worth while!!!

its sweet isn't it. Dd has an imaginary friend called Thomas who makes an appearance evry so often. At breakfast this morning he was on my head then dived into the cereal and was swimming around in the milk.
He sometimes sits on the lights and is always in the bath. Either dh or myself have to ge him out and dry him with a towel before dd will even get out of the bath.!!

It's so lovely. DS has an imaginary friend called Johnnie who lives in Paignton, goes everywhere by train and comes out to play in the rain. ?!?!?

Dinosaur · 16/01/2006 14:40

DS2 has five imaginary children of his own (he is their mummy). Their names are Blur (who is is sometimes also an imaginary friend, and sometimes very scary), Oscar, Bloscar, Osma and Minigo. Minigo and Osma were born last week and DS2 expresses milk to feed them .

What a cracking thread!

suzywong · 16/01/2006 14:52

I feel horribly cheated. No imaginary friends in our house

DD used to have a baby called Silver Baby who lived in the palm of her hand - she has not made an appearance lately though.

DD's bedroom is next to the study and I often hear her jabbering away to her animals, lecturing and hectoring them, caring for them and beating them up The other day she was explaining who was in her family to her spotty dog and two my little ponies - when she said that the dog was her sister but not her real sister but only a hairy one I nearly PMSL!

Jbck · 16/01/2006 18:38

I'm constantly avoiding Baby Dragon's who fly in the car window just past my head to land on DD's hand. She'll describe them all in such intricate detail & then they fly out again away into the wild blue yonder. I did almost crash the car once because she squealed so loudly & convincingly as I'd 'flicked' one as I was changing gear & sent it crashing into the windscreen. I had to blow it a kiss to make it better as it rested on her palm recovering. It's adorable listening to them isn't it.

Ds's imaginary friend is called "Kimmer" and is very naughty. If ever I see ds doing something he shouldn't, he usually says "but Kimmer does it". Also lately Kimmer has become extreme and kills people with guns Educarer at nursery says the older children are ALWAYS talking about guns, killing and inappropriate films they have watched. Bloomin' Kimmer!

DS used to have a imaginary friends called 'Poppy and Barney' They were dogs! Once, when he was about 3 ish, we were in the car on the motorway and suddenly this yell was heard from the back "OH NOOOOOO." I spun round "Whats wrong?!" A little forlorn face said "I forgot to let Poppy and Barney in and they are running by the car and they are soooooo tired! Stop the car daddy!"

DS1 has an imaginary friend called Honey who pops up every so often - he has a sister called Ben as well (? )

mcmudda · 16/01/2006 19:43

Ds has pilfered a hoover belt from somewhere which he now blobs around the house making "blobblubbeebbleeb" conversations. I am told it's a cbeebies blob; now best friends with my MakePovertyHistory wristband.

PMSL BobbyBob, I'm sure he did! Before Kimmer we had Kenny and Nenny, who were a yellow spider and snake and lived in the light in his room. He just used to randomly shout out "Kenny and Nenny!" in a fit of giddyness
