Drawing upside down (and writing backwards)

My DS2 (2.10) often draws pictures upside down, so a train with the wheels on top and the tracks above the wheels, driver's seat upside down, chimney at the bottom. Has anyone else seen this, or know if it's normal? He doesn't do it all the time, and sometimes turns it right-side up halfway through.

As a sort of aside, DS1 (5.2) is in reception, and often writes his name backwards, some letters the right way around, and some 'mirrored'. I think this is probably just a stage of development, but the drawing upside down strikes me as a bit odd!

Anyone else's DCs done or do this?

Thanks for reading.

no experience, but I googled as it seems interesting.

When my dd2 first learned to write her name, she wrote all ten letters in perfect mirror image.

That's actually quite hard to do - easy enough with a short name, but difficult with ten letters! I was quite impressed.

She is now six and can write very well, although does get her '9's back to front which is perfectly normal.
