3 year old dressing up

My 3 year old DS has always liked dressing up but just lately he has started going up stairs on his own and trying mine and his sisters clothes on, if me or hubby go up he tells us to go away and tries to hide what he is wearing. Sometimes he will come down in a princess dress or swimming costume, now we don't have a problem with this and I think it is just a faze but he wants to wear the dress most of the day at the weekend so do we let him get on with it, limited his time in it, tell him it's wrong or what? He knows he is a boy and won't eat off girls plates, he has two sisters one 5 and the other is 1, his elder sister is a bit of a tomboy and never wears said princess dress herself and would rather wear jeans and t shirt!

My eldest daughter is having lots of hospital appointments at the min and I know my DS is jealous so maybe this is his way of trying to get more attention? We just not really sure what to say to him...

Don't say anything to him! He's 3 and enjoying playing dress up! Don't read anything into it.

Just react in the same way you would to your dd. He's only playing. My ds (4) often wears his sisters dress up and my shoes etc and she wears his various superhero costumes too. He will likely grow out of it and if not then its not a problem. Just explain that dress up is an indoor game if you're bothered about him doing it elsewhere. It's perfectly normal imo
