Babies who barely nap

This is a support thread for anyone whose babies don't sleep much during the day. We envy the lifestyle of those mums who pop their babies down for a two hour nap every afternoon and can actually get on with things...or, you know, just sit on the sofa. If our babies sleep for half an hour it's an exciting achievement. It's hard to get a break because our non nappers just don't check out very often (not for want of me trying, believe me). Is there anyone else out there or is it just me?

Same here. 5 mins at 11ish, 5-10 mins at 2ish and 5-10 mins at 5ish. As you say, if she goes down for 30 minutes we're amazed. Don't think she's ever gone longer than that and she's 8 months.

Same here, ds is 18 months and he's never been one to nap a long time.

I used to bf him to sleep but gave up at 15 months. Now he's down to 1 nap a day and it's a miracle if it lasts an hour. Avg is 45ish mins.

I think in his whole life he's had a nap of 1.5 hours about 3 times and one of those was in the car on a long journey.

DD1 only slept for 1/2hr naps until she was ablout 2.5. Then went to 2hr sleeps till she was 4. The longer napping babies all seemed to give up their naps at about 2.5-3 (as did DD2 who did 'normal' naps).

Your time will come Wink

My DD is 12 months and has never napped since she was a tiny baby. She is super active and runs around all day. Whenever i try putting her down for a nap its a full blown screaming match thats just not worth while. She also isnt a great sleeper at night so me and my DH are always tired! I can feel your pain!! x

My 11 month old DD is exactly the same, has never napped properly and seems to have given them up all together now. She also doesn't sleep at night, I don't know where she gets her energy from because we are shattered! Glad to know it's not just us. x

My ds was the same, would only nap for 30 mins and was so tired. He then went down to one nap at 11 months and it was like magic, he slept for 1.5 hours!!! he did cut that by the time he was 2.5 though and has not napped n the day since unless he's ill.

Jacksterbear · 13/01/2012 11:00

Can I join in? 16mo DD never been one for long naps in day, doesn't settle til 9.30 ish at night and doesn't sleep well in night either. I am so Envy of those who get an hour in the morning, 2.5 hours at lunchtime and have their babies asleep by 6.30 pm! Confused

KirstiesHomeMadeCrap · 13/01/2012 15:51

me!!! when my dd was born she could stay awake for 12h during the day...sleeps like a baby?? stupid saying.
shes 9mo now and sleeps every 2-3h for 20 min. no 21minutes not 18 ..always 20. For the last week shes awake during the night for 2-3 h.
I dont know how did I managed 9 months tbh.
when she sleeps I always have to hold her in my arms. Cant put her down so even if shes sleeping I do not have time for myself. I feel for you

Duritzfan · 13/01/2012 16:44
