my son (aged 5 and a bit) found my tampons in the bathroom cupboard the other day so i said that ladies bleed and need them to help with it . he asked then if mummy hurt herself and i said no it is all part of being a big girl . he has not said anything about it since do you guys think i did the right thing and do i let the school know what he is asking

If he's not asked anything else I would leave it at that. I don't think there's any need to tell the school. Why would they need to know? That wouldn't even cross my mind. I can imagine they here all sorts about all sorts! :)
