My 6 mth old DS makes plenty of vowel sounds but no consonants. Shouls i be worried? Could it be a sign of hearing difficulty?

Sounds absolutely fine to me.

As far as I remember the hard consonant sounds are called "plosives" and they do come later than the softer vowel sounds. At 6 months if he's happily gurgling and experimenting with moving his mouth around and making different noises, he's doing really well Not an expert though, just a baby-book nerd

Thanks you two - you've made me feel so much better. I never used to be such a worrier. Motherhood has turned me into a nervous wreck!!!

Consonants are much harder work than vowels. Your baby sounds fine, chocshoes!
