Both my boys at 3.5 months. Was your little one prem? DS2, now 3.5 mo has only started in the past week, but i've had to encourage by waving things near to him that might interest him, and that make a noise. Maybe start by putting a biggish teddy on his tummy/chest and he might use his arms to bring it towards him, it all starts from that really, as he then can hold it in his hands and has a chew. He doesn't hold onto things for long but the idea is there

No he was two weeks overdue! I've spent a fortune in specially shaped toys but he just looks and chews his hands. Will try the teddy trick!

Not sure how many weeks she is but DD is 4 and a half months and is just starting to grab things with her hands now. She doesnt really reach for them still but will grab and hold/shake/chew for a few seconds if you put a toy in her hand! I should imagine your DS will be doing very similar very soon. They pick it up quite quickly once they get going!
