16 month old refusing to go to daddy

My 16 month old girl having spent a wonderful two weeks with her father around (he is a teacher) has decided to start crying and clinging to mummy when he comes home from work. It is really upsetting him as they are so close. If we both go to see her in the morning she looks at daddy and starts crying and shaking her head until he leaves the room. We are both confused by this total clingyness but he is so in love with her it is breaking his heart when she treats him like this. Any advice?

We had a similar situation with our son at that age. My husband works away in the week and he would refuse to have anything to do with him when he got back. For quite a time it would take till Sunday for him to be forgiven for going away, and then it would all be lovely just in time for Monday morning! It did stop, but I don't remember how long it took, sorry!

Both my kids have done this at around that age, and both have grown out of it. They still cling to me when they are poorly - is it possible she is just a bit under the weather? Just stick with it and it will get better.
