How can I help DS2 with bladder control?

He is 2.8 and been in pants since October (at his insistence). Got the hang of going to the potty very quickly and just been using the toilet since about week three.

BUT his bladder control/timing is still a work in progress. A few times a week he won't tell me he needs a wee til too late - by the time we get to the loo there's a bit in his pants (not the whole wee - he can hold on to most of it - but damp enough to need new pants). This has happened twice today. I don't generally prompt him to go for a wee apart from first thing in the morning/before bedtime (still in pull-ups at night).

Is there anything I'm doing wrong/can do to help, or is it just something that will improve by itself with time? DS1 never had this problem but he was over 3 when he went into pants.

sounds normal to me, esp at his age, ds4 was like this and i am sure the others did it a bit as well. i think its something he will grow out of, maybe chat with him about not waiting till he is 'busting' but tbh that is something that is common in young children anyway they are just too interested in whatever else they are doing :)
