So rough, clumsy and always hurting me!

My ds3 is always hurting me by accident. He's quite a cuddly child which is lovely but whenever he comes for a cuddle he doesn't seem to realise when he's head is going to collide with my lips/nose/cheek bone etc and it hurts! It never hurts him though, perhaps because he is the one doing the headbutting or because his head is made of concrete, I'm not sure.

He'll also press his head against my face and move it around in an affectionate way (sort of rubbing noses) but he does is so rough! It bloody hurts and I have to move him away. His dad is always getting injured as well usually in the pant area even though we repeated tell him that he is not to kick his legs and to be gentle, it's hurting us etc. We say it over and over to little or no effect. There have been times when one of us has screamed in pain and still no change. I also get elbows in the neck and boobs!

He has also banged his own head on tables etc more times then I can count. He doesn't seem to notice the danger coming and will do it over and over.

I know it's probably normal to an extent but we never really had this with DD. She was always very aware and gentle.

DS also is a massive fidget and won't sit still if you need him to despite repeatedly telling him to.

Does anyone else have a dc like this? Do they grow out of it? I suppose I am concerned that there is actually something wrong.

Sounds normal to me and a lot like my ds. He is 2.8, a bit clumsy and always rushing about. If he hurts himself we tell him not to do it again but 5 minutes later he will be doing exactly the same. He is also a fidget pants (i posted a thread about it a few weeks ago) which drives me INSANE but I think it's just how he is. Like yours he is very affectionate and always asking for 'ugs mummy ugs' Smile

I read your thread fraggle. My ds is just the same with the constant fidgeting and swivelling about on his chair. It drives me crazy!

My 3 and 9 month old DS is the same - he is just so busy. He just wants to be bouncing around all the time. I'm still hoping its a phase but I think its just him. I justtry to keep him as busy as possible which does help and kep repeating gently to him.
Make the most of the hugs though however clumsy and painful my little one doesn't want mummy hugs anymore - now its gerrof mum I'm not a baby. (Sound of crying from mummy!).
