Peripheral vision issue in 2-year old? Or just away with the fairies?

I was in the park with DH and our 2-year old DS the other day, trying out his new scooter.

DH observed that DS was completely oblivious to the foot/bicycle/scooter traffic around him, even when people were right next to him. He was constantly bumping into people. DH wondered whether he had a problem with his peripheral vision.

It was worse than usual because the park was so busy, I think, but it had never occurred to me that there might be some kind of "issue" - I had just assumed that it was normal for a 2-year old to be in his own little world, bumbling about in a self-centred way.

There's nothing else to make me think he has a problem with his eyesight or hearing.

Do you think that there is something to be worried about?
