My 19 mo ds has been off his food for over 2 weeks now. Initially I had put it down to teething. He would eat breakfast and then some if either lunch or tea but not both. However in past 2 days it has become worse, only eating few mouthfuls all day, even of pudding which is usually his favourite!! Then last night he was wide awake at half 4 for over an hour and I had to give him a bottle of milk to get him back off as I think he was hungry!! He's not had a night feed for months and months - I really don't want it to become a habit, but yet again today he's eaten breakfast but next to nothing all day!! Do I just wait for him to be hungry? Is it a phase? Should I be doing something different?

It is pretty normal for their appetites to have peaks and dips, he's getting to the age now where he might just not need quite so much food as they're rate of growth slows down.
I know my DS often doesn't eat proper meals, he's more of a grazer, is he having any snacks at all?
Also u mentioned about bottles, how many is he having? Maybe he's filling up on those? Tbh he shouldn't really need a bottle now, just a cup or 2 of milk a day and yoghurts, cheese etc.

I would try not to make it a big issue, I do think if kids r hungry they will eat, but of course u do get some kids who don't, but the chances are he's just not that hungry.

Also try n make sure u don't put too much on his plate, kids can be easily over faced by too much food, eat with him but if he leaves it just leave it out, he might want it again in half an hour.

Thanks. He's not really wanted many snacks either. Has one bottle at bedtime. We had the same scenario last night but I didn't give him a bottle, he tossed and turned for hour and half til half 6 and then slept til half 8!! Just don't know what is wrong with him at mo!!
