Looking back at last Christmas's pics on my phone, I noticed that DS (21 months) has not outgrown the trousers (size 18mnths) he was in last year. They were on the big side then. He was 84cm tall on Xmas Eve and weighs about 2 stone. Haven't my growth chart handy so is this normal? Lots of his tops are too small now. OH is 6'3 and I'm 5'4. Is it true you get height from maternal side?

Hope that helps

my boys have been in several pairs of trousers for well over a year. they are 3 1/2 and 26months. my 26month old is about 90cm tall and was checked by a hv last week, he's on the 50 centile.

not sure where kids get their height from, i'm 6ft so thought he would be a bit taller but ds1 is around 90 centile for height.

Our son is exactly the same: last year's Christmas outfit still fits and he will be 2 in January. The trousers fit better than the top as he is of the short legged/long backed build. I like to kid myself that he is getting taller & slimmer and thus not taking up the inches round IYSWIM.
My husband is 6'4" and I'm nearly 5'2" so in fact shortness shouldn't be a surprise. Neither should extreme height.
Glad mine's not the only one though.

I am just buying my boys some new clothes this week. They have had their current ones for about 18 months. (H&M are great quality). My DD is nearly 10 and still wearing clothes that she had when she was 5. Yes, of course I update where necessary but I have never been ungrateful for slow growing, skinny children.

DS (2.1) was the same until a recent growth spurt - it was like we blinked and all of asudden new clothes needed!

Sirzy · 26/12/2011 21:59

Ds is 25 months and is still wearing the same
9-12 trousers he was wearing when he turned 1!

morethanyoubargainfor · 26/12/2011 22:06

my ds 9 wore the same top yesterday as he did last christmas and there is still room for growth! I love buying him clothes but rarely get the chance as he doesn't grow Sad. apparently (according to medics) as he has grown 4 cm and put on 3lbs in weight in 18 months he is ok as he is still growing, just at his own rate! maybe one day he will grow.

my 19 month old is still wearing a few of his 9-12 month clothes that he started wearing just after last christmas (he tends to grow out of the tops quicker than the bottoms) and if anything i would say he is on the taller side of average
