2.5 yo DS sleeping by door of his room

Hello, we have a 7 week old baby girl and a 2.5 yo DS. We moved him from a cot to a bed a couple of months before his sister arrived. Until approx. 3 weeks ago all was going perfectly and he was happy to sleep in his bed. Now he will not go to sleep in his bed - when story time is finished he follows either me or my husband to the door and curls up on the floor between the door and the stairgate to his bedroom. He falls asleep like this and we pick him up off the floor and put him to bed a while later. He sleeps all night and is happy to wake up in his bed in the morning. Otherwise he is fine, loves his little sister and is quite happy.

Does anyone recognise this behaviour? Any ideas about how we can encourage him to stay in his bed?

Many thanks

If he's sleeping and can be moved, I think I'd just let him be!

My mum said i often used to be found on the sleeping on the top of the stairs . He will be fine .

ohhh I've got dc 2 & 3 who did that. DS2 even managed to sleep in the under-bed drawer (and then I pushed it back under the bed one time - another story [bad mother] hehee) I promise you they decide to sleep in their bed sooner or later, if he's not coming to any harm and can be moved, best not to make it into a big deal imho.

a 7 week old baby too? At that stage I'd recommend whatever gets you through with the most sanity possible!
Maybe it's a security thing when his little world has been turned inside out...or just one of those mad 'ahhhh' toddler things you'll embarrass him with in his 20's!

DD was about the same age when DS arrived. She was fine until she realised that she was the only person sleeping on her own

We let her sleep with us, or thrash around madly with us until we all resigned ourselves to getting up, until he was 10 months old and we settled them in the same room. They've been fine since unless something like teething gets in the way.

Maybe it's similar?
