Nearly 14m DD not walking alone yet...

DD has always been pretty much forward with everything, we thought she'd be walking by 9months. but now shes nearly 14months old and cant walk unaided of using someones finger.. she takes a few steps. then goes down. not standing a lot on her own. she just LOVES to climb everywhere, and on anything.

Climbing - fearless
walking unaided - holding back?

advice?

advice??

chill.

BaroqueAroundTheClock · 17/12/2011 20:56

Ds1 - 19 months
DS2 - 10 months
DS3 - 15 months

Doesn't sound like she's far off

Mollydoggerson · 17/12/2011 20:56

re assess in 6 months time. She is fine, totally normal, just bein cautious.

purplehonesty · 17/12/2011 20:58

She'll get there they all do in the end, they are all different so don't feel she has to conform to a set timescale.
Bet she talks far more than some of her pals

Besom · 17/12/2011 20:58

Don't worry. Mind didn't walk alone until nearly 20 months. She's fine and active now.

You could try the wooden spoon thing - give her it to hold and you hold the other end. Then let go and see what happens.

But she'll do it in her own time.

Normal normal normal.

"pretty much forward with everything"

Some babies do some things early and other things late. DS didn't walk until he was 16 months when I hid the wheelybug he was ready.

ilikeyoursleeves · 17/12/2011 20:58

She is fine! My DS1 didn't alk unaided until 20 months and DS2 was about 22 months. They are both absolutely fine and run about like crazy monkeys now. Kids just develop at their own pace!

TattyCatty · 17/12/2011 21:00

My DD couldn't even crawl by 14 months, just about managed to commando crawl by 15 months. Then took another 5 months to pluck up the courage to walk on her own (lots and lots of walking around holding onto somebody's little finger from around 18 months). Still completely within the realms of normal.

DS crawled at 8.5 months and was cruising at 9 months. Everyone said he'd walk soon afterwards.

He walked at 15 months.

SoAngryICouldFuckingScream · 17/12/2011 21:07

DD didnt even cruise at 18 months, we were getting really worried, then one day, she just walked :)

Dozeyland · 17/12/2011 21:08

I'm not worrying, just wondered thats all :)

Yeah cautious with the walking, but fearless with everything else, she can climb the stairs in like 5 seconds flat (eek!) and Purplehonesty yes she's very vocal, she is saying lots now, it actually surprises me how interactive they can be at this age, and how they actually understand you too. its crazy.

Thanks for the replies, I was just wondering really. of course she'll do it in her own time, i'm so proud of her :)

Really wouldn't worry. She'll do it in her own good time Smile
