I wonder if anyone can help. I have a little girl who is very nearly 8 months. I have just taken her to the health visitor and she weighs just over 17lbs. She has said this is the ideal weight. Would anyone else agree?

Hi Sam,

Sounds pretty good to me. Most babies (although not all) treble their birth weight by 12 months. Most are double the birth weight by six months.
Are you worried about her weight yourself for any reason?

Hi SamCattie

I have an almost 8 month DS, when I last had him weighed approx 3 weeks ago he was 22lb 13oz, we were referred to the paediatrician as the HV was worried that he was too heavy! He is on the 98th centile for weight but is also on the 75th centile for length, so the overall conclusion was that he is a big baby!

I guess what I'm trying to say is what is her weight like in comparison to her length? Are you worried about her weight?
