DD2 is 18mo and weighs 19.9lb :)

ImpYCelynAndTheIvy · 08/12/2011 21:03

DS is 14months and weighs just over 10kg, so 22lbs something I think.

He has a bit of a tum (I thought they all did at that age), but height 25th centile and weight 25-50th so I don't think he's overweight.

heroinahalfshell · 08/12/2011 21:07

Sorry I should have said he is very tall! About 2ft8I think.

He went through a really lanky phase and is now filling out - maybe I'm just not used to him having a tum!!

DS is 1 on tuesday, he weighs just under 25lb. He is a big boy, everyone comments, not just his tum but his height, he s very tall for his age.

heroinahalfshell · 08/12/2011 21:10

Hi dimple yeah we get comments too (my fave is when I say his age and they say "are you sure?"... Am I sure??!!! Err yes!) I guess height is the key really.

My 13 mo DS is 10.8 kg and 79 cms ( that's after a growth spurt) he only went in to 6-9 month clothes a month ago and I've just had to dash out to George (god bless it) and by 9-12 months. Weight an height he's gone from 50th to 75th. I don't get any of it. He was just petite (no idea where that came from!)

TheLaineyWayIsEssex · 08/12/2011 22:25

Ds is just over 12 mo at his check last week was 10.38 kg ( 22.8lb) just under 75 th centile for weight. But is 78 cm so just under 90th centile for height. Imo he is big/tall for his age but slim.
Always being told he is a big strong boy.
Thonk most toddlers have a tummy which comes and goes between poos growth spurts

ihearttc · 09/12/2011 12:16

DS2 is just over 12 months and is 8.90 kg and about 74 cm so dinky bless him. He was born at 32 weeks though and weighed 3lb 8oz so he's done a far bit of growing that time.

Think he's finally having a growth spurt cause all his 6-9 months clothes (that I've just got!) are getting too small lol!

On the other hand DS1 was 28lb at 13 months and now at 6 wears 9-10 clothes cause he's so tall!

milkyjo · 09/12/2011 13:10

Same as dimplebum my DS is 1 on Wednesday and just under 25lb, on the 91st centile but on the 98th for his length.

Heroinahalfshell is your DS moving around? Crawling or walking? Could he be piling on the weight ready to burn it all off when he gets up and goes? Or is he getting ready for winter?!

I imagine my DS will be 27lb in a month!

dd is 12 months and 20lb and quite stocky.

EBDteacher · 10/12/2011 09:25

My 15mo DS is 34lb and 88cm tall. He is off the red book chart thingy for both height and weight (by the same amount so he's not fat). He's growing out of his 2-3y tshirts!

People talk to him as though he is 3!

I need to find a rugby club Grin

brettgirl2 · 12/12/2011 08:45

Comparing weights of babies/toddlers is pointless. My daughter who is 32 months weighs the same as the OP's baby. So what? They all have their own build/metabolism my daughter is very slight and of average-ish height and I imagine the heavier babies are taller, chunkier tots.

They all 'chubb up' a bit before a growth spurt and then look skinnier again after. The important thing is that they are eating a varied healthy diet and being encouraged to exercise rather than watch telly as they get the physical capability.

patchesmcp · 12/12/2011 14:31

I have a 10 month old here and at his 9 month check he weighed 26lb 13 oz and was just above 99th centile. He is 80cm tall so in proportion.

I used to look at people carrying their toddlers around and wonder how they did it, then I realised their toddlers were probably the same weight as my baby!

CamperFan · 13/12/2011 13:56

DS2 was had his year review the other day at 13 months and was just under 20lb I think. He was on the 75th % for height and the HV said he was 'just right' Smile (I say that tongue in cheek). DS1 was definitely heavier at the same age, and taller, longer hair etc.

MedusaIsHavingABadHairDay · 14/12/2011 18:52

My DS1 was 22 pounds at 4 months (from being a 7 lb baby) and 27 pounds at 13m..overtook his elder sister by then too.... He was almost square and I worried a lot...

by the age of 5 he was a skinny kid and has stayed that way.. they all vary and even out in their own time:)

Tgger · 14/12/2011 20:30

Yeah, I agree with brettgirl. Some 1 year olds weigh the same as 3/4 year olds but can both be fine. As they get more active they slim down and then weight gain slows big time, partly due to this and partly due to naturally slowing with age. I have a dinky 3 year old DD and a huge 5 year old DS so I've seen both sides. They both well and are very active.

brettgirl2 · 16/12/2011 17:07

Campervan I only knew what DD weighed because she'd just had her 2.5 year check (late! Hmm). She was 'just right' too - 25th centile and has been since birth.

Carrying a toddler under one arm is no problem at all in my experience Wink

Sibling4 · 16/12/2011 18:06

My 17 week DD is 22lbs. I knew she was big but until I read this I had no idea how big Shock

dogindisguise · 17/12/2011 19:30

DS is nearly 13mo and weighs about 22lbs (10.2kg) which is between 50th and 75th centile for weight.

GincogniHoHoHo · 17/12/2011 19:56

My ds is nearly 14mo and weighs 26.5lbs (90th centile). He is only 76.5cm (about 40th centile) and so is a right little chubber, round as a ball :o He was ebf and then blw, though, so I am confident he is the right weight for him. He's not walking yet - no doubt the weight gain will slow down once he is.

GincogniHoHoHo · 17/12/2011 19:57

And sibling Shock - you must have arms of steel!
