Mt daughter has started talking and sometimes crying in her sleep. Is this normal?

Yes, especially around this age I think. My two are both big sleep fallers, sometimes criers. I just talk back to them to calm them down, rather than wake them up

Mum1369 · 06/12/2011 11:14

Talkers not fallers ! That would be far worse !

Yep. My DS (2.5) talks in his sleep regularly. If he cries I go and pat his back / cuddle him until he calms down again.

Mind you his dad also talks in his sleep. He gets a kick in the shins Blush

My 2 yo dd does this a lot too- she also sings in her sleep (very cute, but not so appreciated at 3am!). If she cries in her sleep, I generally just soothe her in her cot rather than pick her up. I think it's due to
their development - processing all the things they've learned during the day while they're asleep.

Thanks glad it's all normal. Not so good for mummy as we share a room and I'm a very light sleeper :)

My eldest DD does this all the time. She's 10 now and still talks in her sleep every week or so. It cracks me up trying to listen to what she is saying as she very rarely makes any sense whatsoever.

Occasionally she would cry in her sleep. There was nothing that helped her. If I woke her, she wouldn't want to talk about the bad dream she was having. Sometimes she'd shout "No, no, no!" and worry me. Then one night she was shouting because she was having a bad dream and her bad dream was about a friend of her drinking her blackcurrant.

2yo and 4yo here. Both talk and shout in their sleep quite often. Is cute the first time and now it is bloody annoying

pigleychez · 11/12/2011 20:13

DD's are 3.5 and 18mths are both talkers.
DD1 also sleep moans which is quite annoying!

It can be quite alarming to wake hearing ' Mummy, mummy! Come quickly! I need you!!' only to find them fast asleep! DH sleeptalks too so I get it from all angles!

DD (2.1) has just started doing this too. She was also sleepwalking the other morning which was scary. Pleased to hear it is normal development!
