Has anyone used professional help to get through fussy eating in 2 / 3 year olds? I feel we could do with a bit of a kickstart and would be interested to know if anyones had any success with outside help. Thanks

I haven't used a professional, but when DS1 was diagnosed with autism they were very impressed at how we had overcome his fussy eating.
He was very fussy in as much as he would eat one brand of coloured fusili for example, even swapping a different brand into a packet that he ate he could taste the difference.

We put a single spoonful of new food on his plate for maybe 30 days so he got used to the look of it. Then he was encouraged to just lick it. If he did then no more pressure to actually eat it. Then he was encouraged to take a tiny mouthful the next time we had it. Never then try and get him to eat another one as he had achieved what we had asked. If he didn't eat it no fuss was made it was just removed at the end of the mealtime. Overall it took about 3 years to get him to eat in any way normally, and now after about 6 years I have even managed to get him to try having a tuna sandwich with BUTTER in. Never thought I would see that happen!

LittleMissGreen I am both daunted and impressed by your efforts. Congratulations for managing that, it's a long, hard slog.....
