Rebellious 4 year old, help!

My 4 year old son seems very rebellious. If told/asked not to do something, i could almost guarantee he will do it. If i warn him not to do something or he'd get thinking time, he will do it and get thinking time. He never listens! I guess a lot of kids are like that but i'm not sure how to deal with it. Would love to hear opinions and suggestions please!

most kids are like that, i always found ignoring them worked for me (obviously not if what they were doing was dangerous) as they seem to do the opposite of what you want them to do for attention but they do grow out of it, its just them testing boundaries :)
