21 week old runny nappies - could it be teeth?

OK this may be an obvious question to someone with kids already but being a newbie at this I just wanted to check. I have a 21 week old DS, and I realise this is about the time teeth start to appear, but he has gone from 1 normal pooey nappy a day to 2 or 3 really runny ones over the past three days. He is neither up nor down about this. He has everything in his mounth for a chew but that has been happening for weeks now, and there really isnt much bumpiness on his gums to indicate a toothipeg- is this just the next stage towards teeth?

Changes in poo - and indeed an increase in nappy rash - are symptoms of teething. If it goes on much longer though i'd go to the GP as I don't recall it going on for days and days.
