9 month old not using legs

Doctor has checked him and said not to worry, but I can't help it! He does roll around and uses his legs as a sort of pivot, but if you hold him up he does no weight bearing at all. Just hangs there in a door dangler!
Struck me today when I was holding a 6 WEEK OLD who was stronger and really pushing down with her legs wanting to stand!
I know they all develop at different rates, this is dc3, but, you know. . . .
Any reassurance out there?

Hi ThatllDo! My 10,mo is totally the opposite, has been weight bearing since very young but has no interest in rolling, crawling, moving in general just wants to be up! etc.
I know this doesn't help a great deal, but just wanted to reassure you that yes they do all develop at different times and please don't worry, he will be running and bouncing around in no time!!

1 week ago I could've said the same about my DD, in fact I posted on here as I was worried too!!

Everytime I tried to put her on her feet she just lifted them up. Everyone was telling me how strange it was.

She was rolling all over the place at 9mo then just before 10mo started crawling. She is now 10.5 mo and I was absolutely astounded when I put her on her feet a few days ago and she weight bared for the first time. Today I put her hands on the sofa and she held herself in a standing position for a few seconds.

She seems to have just come along all of a sudden!! It has now made me realise how different they all really are and they do it in their own time.

Please do not worry!!

My DD was just the same too. She never crawled, only rolled over once, but started bottom-shuffling at about 12 months. She didn't walk until she was virtually 2 - (she'd seen doctors etc who just kept saying 'come back in 3 months' ) The one day, she just pulled herself up. Within a couple of weeks she could hop, climb stairs etc. All in her own time!

DS3 has been weight bearing since he was a few weeks old. Still didn't bloody walk until he was nearly 2! So I would echo that at this age it probably doesn't mean anythingSmile
