retractible testes

ds, now 12 months has undescended testicles when he was born but they came down a couple of weeks later. Since then they have been up and down, which I was told by my dh was normal depending on whether he was cold etc. However recently I have noticed they are always up. I tried to get an appt with doctor but nothing for a 'non urgent' case for 2 weeks. Bit worried about the poor lad, does anyone have anyexperience of this? can testes become undescended even if they previously were descended?

hard to explain without seeing - but if very cold scrotum skin will shrink and testicles go snug to body.

if baby is dressed and in a warm house and after a few hours you take nappy off, you would expect them to be loose and saggy (!!).

I dont know what an "actual" undescended testicle looks like compared with cold goolies though, sorry, maybe they look the same.

I do think you should get a medical opinion. there is no urgency with regard to your sons immediate health so try not to worry about the wait.

Don't have a definitive answer, sorry, but I know they don't check if testes are descended until pre school check which is about age 4, as prior to that they may still be mobile with no abnormality.

I'd make that appointment for a couple of week's time and try not to worry too much.

thanks for the replies. Cuppa - yes that used to be the case they would be loose and saggy when he was warm but now they are always up as if they are stuck up there! Confused I am hoping they will be down every time I change his nappy.
