In the words of my MW - I have made a rod for my own back! My DD sleeps well, but refuses to go to bed til about 11pm - I am sooooo tired! I have gone back to work and have an early start and I would just love a few hours in the evening to do some work before I go to bed. How can I change this routine - I have tried but she is a night owl!

How old is your dd?

YOu can change the routine easily enough, but you can't have it all ways. Baby needs whatever sleep they need. Could be a 7pm bedtime will get you a 3am morning.

My kids never slept very much tbh. Still don't. They are 3 and 4 and sleep from around 9:30pm to 7am which appears to be a lot less than other people's kids but when I started to realise that that was just the way it was and plan around it (i.e. when dh comes in he gets a cuppa then an hour and a half with them whilst I work/admin etc.).

I am officially declare that anyone who uses the sentence 'rod for your own back' will be shot at sunrise.

You have not. Babies have not read the books. They sleep when they are tired for as long as they need to sleep until they are awake.

Starlight is correct. Feel free to try to put her bedtime earlier. But you may be waking up very early instead.

And ignore the MW. Seriously.
