When did your 'bumshuffler' walk?

My 13 months old DD is a bumshuffler. I am not worried, I am not comparing, I am just interested. If you had a bumshuffler, when did they start walking and did they go straight from the shuffle to the walking, omitting crawling?

I had 2, and they walked quite late....can't remember now exactly. Neither crawled. One turned about to have dyspraxia and I have heard that can be associated with bumshuffling.

Melindaaa · 11/11/2011 13:35

My niece was a bum shuffler, never crawled, walked quite late at about 18 months.

My son was a bum shuffler but now mostly crawls normally. He is almost 22 months and not walking yet.

redlac · 11/11/2011 13:35

think it was about 14 months DD started to walk and didn't crawl at all.

whoopeecushion · 11/11/2011 13:39

I had 2 bum shufflers. One walked at 13-14m (DS) and one at 17-18m (DD). Neither ever crawled, they got up and cruised for a few months, then walked.

I personally found that my DD (2nd child) was physically able to walk earlier than 17-18m but was not brave enough to take any unsteady steps. When she finally decided to walk, she was very stable and so she felt happy.

DS was willing to take shaky steps and fall over so he walked earlier.

bigwheelsturning · 11/11/2011 16:38

My bumshuffler (never crawled) walked at 15 months - my other three were crawlers & walked much earlier (10-13 months). It is one of the crawlers that has ended up dyspraxic though.

MoChan · 11/11/2011 16:43

My DD didn't really crawl but could bumshuffle two miles in about ten seconds. She walked at 12 months.

mumeeee · 11/11/2011 18:27

DD1 was a bum shuffler she didn't walk
until she was 21 months. Didn't
go in for toddling though just got up off her little chair one day and walked across the room.

castlesintheair · 11/11/2011 18:29

29 months. Never crawled.

Kandinsky · 11/11/2011 18:31

DD bum shuffled, never crawled and learned to walk late (17-18) months. The motivation to walk is lessened as shufflers have the use of their hands, unlike crawlers.

Tonksforthememories · 11/11/2011 18:31

DD2 was a bumshuffler, never crawled, walked at 19m.
DH was one too, he walked at 23m according to MIL.

Tgger · 11/11/2011 20:25

DD was bumshuffler. Started shuffling at 11 months. Walked at 18 months. Didn't crawl- well learnt to crawl after she learnt to walk iykwim Grin. I think they are generally later walkers. She didn't pull herself up until 17 months.

gigglepin · 11/11/2011 20:28

bumshuffled to walking at 11 months.
No crawling at all.

mum23girlys · 11/11/2011 20:31

I've got a 12 month old bum shuffler. No sign of her walking yet but she is starting to pull herself up on the furniture. One of my twins was a bum shuffler too and walked 3 days after her sister (who crawled) at 13 months.

HecateGoddessOfTheNight · 11/11/2011 20:38

A few days before or after his first birthday.

One of my children walked a few days before his 1st and the other a few days after. I can't for the life of me remember which did which Blush

Eldest was a bum shuffler, due to disability he was unable to crawl (erbs palsy) but he was like lightening! Grin you'd hear bang bang bang bang and he'd be the other side of the room.

Other son crawled. But not for long. He moved on quite quickly to that cruising they do and then seemed to cling on forEVER Grin I thought he was never going to let go of the sofa and give it a go Grin

MonsterBookOfTysons · 11/11/2011 20:40

Ds was a bum shuffler. He never crawled. He was 16 months old when he could walk unaided :)
My dd is 13 months, crawls and cant walk yet :)

OwlMother · 11/11/2011 20:44

DD was a bumshuffler and didn't walk until she was 21months. Both ds's weren't and walked at about 13months. As soon as she started, she walked properly though, no tottering about!

BleedyGhoulzombiez · 11/11/2011 20:44

16 months. After 7 months of shuffling she let go of my hand, started walking and hasn't looked back since. I do miss her mad-looking shuffle, though. Grin

hackneyzoo · 11/11/2011 21:04

18months and he never crawled.

academyblues · 11/11/2011 21:06

Both of my kids bum shuffled. DD finally let go of my hand at 16 months and ds finally stopped cruising at 18 months.

Ds did the odd crawl, but dd just wouldn't lie on her tummy.

OriginalPoster · 11/11/2011 21:09

16 months, don't worry, just enjoy them when they're little

thesurgeonsmate · 11/11/2011 21:21

16 months, as was predicted by my favourite HCP at around the year mark. She never crawled, and she wasn't even a very purposeful shuffler!

Pishtushette · 11/11/2011 21:26

My bum shuffler started walking around 20 months. She's 23 months now and us still getting there.

MarkStretch · 11/11/2011 21:29

My DD was a fast bumshuffler, she wore the arse out of so many pairs of trousers.

She walked at about 13-14 months, she never crawled, just pulled herself up on things, cruised about and off she went.

gitinora · 11/11/2011 21:47

DS bumshuffled from 7 months never crawled walked at 10.5 months
