Advice welcome!

My DS has had some wierd temperature thing all week that has made him v poorly, esp for Mon & Tues. Still has whopper glands so best not to take him into school prob for this week. DD has also fallen ill and is currently soundo in bed..very unlike her but alternate Calpol and Nurofen are doing the trick (off to Gp today at 11 just to check ears etc etc)

My problem is that my bionic 7 year old has truly outgrown all of his toys (he didnt have gazillions anyway) apart from Lego which is great...and anything electrical. He LOVES the wii and he LOVES his DS and am in constant battle with him about how much he can be on it. I try to keep to 40 mins a day but a gynormous battle starts about 30 mins into it when I give him gentle notice that he is about to reach his limit...

I see him losing that thing of being absorbed in play as he used to (with his cars etc) and feel really sad. When he is out he is bionic, in the park, doing rugby etc but when home its just screen time he is after. (with a bit of bike action when he can)

Does anyone have any suggestions of good things to try and get him into? He played for a little while with top trump cards, is doing ok at School but doesnt have a long attention span at home (to say the least). Loves school, loves his pals...

What can I encourage/introduce him too?

Thanks

Books!
Cooking (but you have to do it too).
Games (but you have to do it too- when pals not there)
I would let him have more screen time when he is poorly though, that's all my DS did, or mostly anyway, didn't have energy for anything else.
Try to encourage his passions- whatever they are. I think outside stuff and playing with pals is pretty healthy though!!
