Slapped Cheek - always both cheeks?

Hello. DD woke this morning with rash on one cheek. Cough over previous week though nothing serious. Just wondering if this could be slapped cheek or if slapped cheek always involves both cheeks?

I'm 40 +2 weeks pregnant which is why I'm wondering.

Thanks :)

could be slapped cheek...not always both sides (sometimes no rash at all!!). but would be difficult to say. Some children have rash all over, my DD1 had rash top to toe which then "fell off" her body as if it were running out through her feet....amazing to see.

hope she is better soon and you remain well and relaxed for DC2. Good luck!

DD2 had this but only on one cheek, every other symptom she could have as well and diagnosed by GP 'cos I'd never heard of it.

My DD had a bright red 'phantom of the opera' mask for about 3 hours. Doctor diagnosed slap cheek, although he said as the rash appeared she was probably at the tail end of the illness as the symptoms appear very much like many other viruses. She had cold symptoms and a dodgy tum over a 2 week period before we had the rash, 2 days later she was back to her old self.

The chances are you've probably been exposed to the virus when you were younger (parvovirus B19) so you are probably not at risk, also as you are late in your pregnancy it is less likely to cause you problems, if you are concerned speak to your doctor.

Hope your little one feels better soon
