My son is 20mth and I want to try him in a cot bed as he always wakes up crying and upset until I get up with him so I'm thinking of trying a bed to help the situation! Any ideas? X

My DS was in a normal bed around that age. It was fine.

Bit confused as to why you would think it would make him less upset though?

I wouldn't buy a cot bed at that age, just go straight to a single bed.

Both my older two went into beds at that age. One into a full sized single. Dd hated her cot and, after about a week to get over the excitement of it, was much happier and better settled in the bed.

Thank u, I jus think if he can wake up and get out if bed and nit feel caged in he won't feel so upset and can play with his toys, I'm going to out up a stsir gate in his room so he is safe

Take a look at places like Ikea which have a good range of bed choices for children.
DD has an adjustable IKEA bed, it can be used as a shorter toddler bed, then lengthened to a fullsize bed as the child gets older. The best bit is that it is quite a bit lower than most normal beds, so the fear of a big bump if they fall out is much reduced.

Both of mine were in IKEA toddler beds at 14 months. Both with success.
