11 month old and only two teeth...

My DS's two teeth arrived a couple of months ago...bottom two. Since then, days of drooling and then nothing..no drooling, no signs...

All his mates' teeth are coming in thick and fast.

Could we be in for a long wait?

I don't know, but my 13 month old has only just got her first in the last week. I'm not too worried, they'll come when they come.

My DS had 4 months between his first two through and his next set, it was like he was teething everyday for 4 months. They move around in the jaw, getting in position to then cut through in the right place. You may find he has a long period of nothing then a load come through at once. My DS had 6 through in 6 weeks after the long wait!

I think it really varies, as others have said. My neice didn't have any at all at 12 months, then they all came really quick. DS1 had his first at 4 months, and then one a month it seemed from then on. DS2 had his first at about 8 months.

Sounds normal. The eruption of teeth is different in each child. Upper central incisors (which should be the next set to erupt) come through anywhere between 6 months and 1.5 years. Even beyond 18 months, it's very rare (VERY rare) for babies to be missing teeth. And when they erupt has no bearing on their development-so you shouldn't think just cos his mates already have theirs that he's somehow behind.. X

Relieved to see this thread and reponses, DS is now 10mo and has no teeth at all and no sign of any on the way!
