DS (5) whose behaviour has always been quite challenging, has started writing on walls & furniture etc. I've told him repeatedly that he must only draw on paper which we give him - but he still persists. I've threatened him with taking away toys - and then he has still done it - and I've taken away the toys - and there is no change in his behaviour. In the last week he has written his name 4 times over the lounge walls, scribbled on the hall wall, written his name 3 times on his bedroom walls and scribbled on the dresser, written on a pine table (which he previusly gouged out withe a screwdriver). He has also drawn on his school shirts, and on his face in the past (fortunately washed off!).
He is the type of child who nothing seems to faze if told off - he sits happily on the naughty stair until allowed off, takes all his punishments on the chin, has no "favourite" toys whose withdrawal would make any difference. I've asked him to try to clean off the writing with me - but it won't come off. I've said no sweets, no cake, no TV and he is completely unbothered.
He is a very affectionate child generally - although prone to lashing out in fits of temper if things don't go his way or if he gets hurt (rough-housing with his brother). I really can't think of anything else to try except withdrawing access to all pens in the house and only allow them under strict adult supervision. But he is 5, in year 1 at school - and should know better!! Help!
