4 year old behaviour

How do you get your 4 year old to stop screaming hysterically whenever they have to do something they don't want. It can be getting dressed in the morning, washing hands or saying no to something she wants. I've tried ignoring it, sticker charts, rewarding when not doing it. She can also hit and kick if your nearby too. I'm running out of patience and ideas.

I don't know and I'm on my third time round of this. I seem to forget just how evil challenging they are every time. My only advice is to keep with one thing, give lots of love, and understand that they all seem to come out of it in the end. 6 year olds are fantastic and 5 year olds a big improvement

God knows - but if anyone does I'd be interested to know. DS1 is 4 in a couple of weeks and we're currently enduring one of his screaming fits because we're watching the rugby and he wants us to put children's programmes on instead (which he's been watching for over three hours already this morning ). He drives us completely insane at times!

I honestly though DS2 hated me when he was 4 . I think it's because they are intelligent enough to know what buttons to press whereas in a 2 year old it generally looks like mindless frustration.

I would recommend ignore actually, makes very little difference to them (man they have stamina at 4 don't they) but you'll feel much happier!

Phew beginning to think I'm not alone and that others are not all little angels! DS was never as stubborn but probably gave me grief in other ways. Think I'll just have to stick with lots of loving and ride it out!
