Pigeon toed delay walking?

My 17 month old is not walking. Haven't been concerned but someone has pointed out she's pigeon toed - can this delay walking?

Not unless it is a hip problem that has been missed. Has your dd had her hips checked since the 6/52 review?
Usually toeing in and out is normal at this age and will self correct. It isn't usually intervened with unless it is a problem at 4/5 yo.

I have to say it is unlikely to be hips as they rotate out. can she crawl properly as opposed to commando style, sit ok unsupported and stand if you hold her hands?

Do you know if she had what is termed positional talipes at birth? This is muscle/ tendon shortening in the outside of the ankle or toes curling over, at birth.

No problems at birth and crawls v well, cruises and has taken some steps but not too interested in taking more - crawling is faster! We have assumed the delay is partly because she's big. Sounds like it might be worth checking with the GP but I believe they won't do anything much before 18 months anyway?

Nick that sounds fine. They don't do anything surgical about pigeon toeing until school age when their bones become less pliable. At this age their bones change because they are soft. The GP may be able to refer to physio though if you are concerned ? splint. I suspect that you are right though, that if crawling is faster she takes that option but she will walk eventually. When she decides to walk I suspect the pressure on the sole of her foot will naturally incline her to toe forwards, but it could be that she can't balance if its severe so yes get it checked.
