Extream behaviour in 19month old......do I need to see the GP?

If he gets upset about anything he smashes his head into the ground.....the noise is shocking. He tends to do this once, fall to the floor screaming and then proceed to throwing things. It is terrible.

He wont be left alone to go to sleep, he wants to be cuddled.
He isn't talking yet, starting to babble but that's it.
He hates the bath and screams the whole time.

I feel so so sorry for older DS. It is so stressful. :(

might be worth having a word with health visitor. If he has no way of expressing his wants, the head banging could be furstartion.
I would certainly keep an eye on speech and ask HV if its too early for soeech therapy (most wont take under 2 years)

Could you try some sing and sign or similar with him? My DS, who is a similar age, isn't really talking but can sign lots of things thanks to the baby signing course we did at our local children's centre - I can't believe how much it helped him (though his favourite signs are more, cake, and biscuit...and he learnt the latter two off Mr Tumble )

You can get DVDs on Amazon and probably borrow them from the library too, if you can't find a local class.

Thanks for the replies. We do seem to understand what he wants....it's more a case of he can't have it sadly. The worst times are when he is tired. I do think he needs more 1:1 attention....hard when juggling everything etc.

Well the left alone to sleep thing - sounds like DS.

Is he getting enough sleep? Can you try distraction instead of saying no when he wants something?
