DD has started wetting her pants all the time, nearly 4 yrs old

DD is 4 in March and has been dry for over a year. We did go through a phase when ds was born in January of wetting pants just as I sat down to breast feed but it hasn't happened for about 6 months now. I can't understand it, she went through 7 outfits yesterday, just weeing all over the place. I don't know whether to be cross or ignore it? My HV said to go back to potty and big praise etc. Anyone else had this? HV also said could be stressed about Christmas etc. It's going to drive me round the twist changing wet clothes all holidays.

Could she have a urine infection?

Could be a urine infection. Is she constipated ... that can sometimes put pressure on the bladder and make them wee without realising.

HV said it would hurt if she had infection, also urine would smell which it doesn't? She was constipated and and that's why I thought she was doing it - but that problem went but the weeing has continued. And it has happened in all outfits!

also it's sometimes not just a little bit, it's gallons!

I posted this morning that my dd aged 3.6 wet my bed last night and between her and ds aged 4.6 they have wet 4 times in a week. DS did a wee all over the coach this morning because he was too busy watching tikkabilla and too lazy to get up and go to toilet. Was she busy doing something when she was wetting as it could just be a laziness thing like my ds. My dd has been dry for a year and ds for 2 years.

I wonder if it was the constipation to start with and has now just become a habit? Have you asked her whether she knew she needed the toilet - maybe she's getting distracted and forgetting to go, or maybe she's too lazy to go or more interested in other things. That was what happened with my sister - she used to wet herself all the time because because she preferred to stay out and play rather than come inside for the toilet. She used to hang on and hang on, then when it was too late she'd just go back to playing.

I guess all you can do is go back to asking her every half an hour if she needs the toilet.

take her to the gp to rule out an infection. i had infections when i was little, with no pain... at least, not for a while

if you are SURE that it is nothing physical... then try bribery? or tell her santa won't come if she keeps doing it!

Watching this with interest. My ds is 5. We had a couple of accidents 18 months ago when his sister was born and then stopped. He started school in September and got off to a good start but then he started occasionaly wetting himself and now it is getting worse by the week. At first I was convinced it was sheer laziness but am now planning a trip to the docs to see if anything else is going on.

My DS1 potty trained brilliantly at just over 2 years. Was completely dry for one whole year until his sister was born when he was 3. He started wetting. Really wetting, 8 or 9 times a day. This went on for 18 months! I tried everything. and I mean everything! Then it slowed down a bit and went to just sort of 'dribbling' in his pants. He still does it and he is nearly 9 years old! He has been checked out and he is fine physically.

I just completely ignore it now. Just ask him to change his trousers if he smells. But believe, me I know how frustrating it is. I wish I could say, 'I tried this and it worked' but I can't because nothing worked. But I am there in sympathy for you. Hope it gets sorted soon.

oh no, 18 months!! Serves me right, I was just thinking how much fun she is at the moment, the tantrums are fewer, she likes her baby brother more, all sorts of things really, and then here we go with something else. This parenting lark, never think you've cracked it! I think I'll get her checked out at the docs next week too.

and if you do think you've cracked it the little buggers throw something else at you just to keep you on ya toes!!
