Hi there, apologies as first time on here and sent message to wrong thread. I have a ds who is nearly 2 and not walking yet. He gets around on his knees and pulls up on furniture to walk around but does not seem to want to walk yet. He took 8 steps the other day but so much emphasis and encouragement for him to walk has unfortunately pushed him back. Is there anyone in a similar position. Should I be seeking help from the doctor.

At what age did he pass his other major milestones such as sitting unaided, crawling/bumshuffling? How is his speech? Can he feed himself, do basic puzzles, shape sorting stuff, etc.?

I dont think there is any need to ne to concerned just yet, but to put ypur mind at rest ask your gp for a referral to a physiotherapist.

yes, his speach is really clear. He sat unaided at around 8 months and at the 8 month check the h/v said that he has a slight problem weight bearing. At 12 months he was not crawling so was advised to take him to the doctors. After doing this the doctor advised that he was fine. At 13 months he started to crawl so this is why I think he just needs the confidence to do it.

I'd take him to the GPs and get a referal to a physio.

Then I think you could be right, it could just be to do with confidence...as all his other milestones seems to be fine.

I would say though that it doesn't do any harm at all to take him back to the doctors and get him checked out again. They could say - there's nothing wrong and you'll have your mind put at rest...or they could say, let's get him a referral for physio who might give you some exercises that might improve his confidence. Whatever scenario - you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

By the way - I do know what you're going through, dd was a late-ish walker at 20 months and it took her ages to get going. However I swear now that it was because she wanted to be able to do it properly before she tried since once she started, she almost never fell over!!!
