Is this normal?

DS 3, really loves playing with his friends and tries to make new friends all the time but seems to scare them off! He keeps shouting! Or making really silly noises and this often goes alongside moments of random 'in their space' actions. Other times esp with known friends he is fine. Any tips on how to best help him? Many thanks

How about you play with him and act the part of the shouty friend and goof about bumbling in his space and honking or something. It might make him giggle but see what he'd doing. Or you could do it with toys and have one bear getting in another's space and roaring (do bears roar?) loudly and have the other bear clutch his ears and go ARGHHH, MY EARS!! He might then get involved and play it out with you.

Good idea, he would like that.....could make it worse though!??

Maybe not if he gets to see just how annoying the other bears find it! Grin. I will be interested to see how it goes!! Good luck! He might end up playing the intruded upon bear you never know.

Perhaps you could find some stories or make some of your own stories about making friends and including the things he does that seem to upset other children. Make part of the story including a new way for the charcter to make friends that doesn't upset the other children.
