Hearing problems?

DS is almost 14 weeks. Obviously he doesn't respond to his name but I have noticed he also doesn't respond to any sounds very close to his ear like me calling him when his head is turned away from me or me clicking fingers by his ear. He passed the hearing test as a newborn in hospital but how reliable are they ??

There is no reason why you can't ask for a referral to audiology for another test. Depending on which screen test he had may make a bit of a difference, also the test for newborn screening won't account for the development of glue ear or a hearing loss that happens later on.

Does he respond to environmental sounds like hoovers and the like? Babies habituate to sounds so try something novel and different to get his attention rather than the sounds he hears all the time - if he knows what they are they might not be that interesting for him to turn to.
