How long from teething symptoms to first tooth?

My dd has shown signs of teething since she was 4 months old, she's now 8 and a half months and still no teeth! However, the past 2 nights symptoms have really kicked up a level (bad nappies, incredibly runny nose, flushed cheeks, in pain, not sleeping etc)

Any ideas how long these recent symptoms will last before a tooth comes? It's becoming very hard to cope with so little sleep and an ill and clingy baby. :(

My DS started showing signs around the same time and got his first tooth at 10 months! which looked quite amusing as he had no hair either. Grin

He is 7 today Grin and has only lost 1 bottom tooth so I guess there is something in the later the teeth the later they fall out. Apparently this means they have stronger adult teeth but obviously I can't comment on this as he only has 1. Grin

Try giving raw carrot to chew on, it's meant to help by gently easing the gum back to allow the tooth to come through easier.

Months! DD showed signs from 2 months and first tooth came dead on 6 months. I didn't even notice she was teething at that point, it just popped through!

My ds first showed signs of teething at about 10th weeks. He is now 21 weeks and still nothing but very soggy bibs!

Both DSs got the chapped red cheeks and profuse dribbling from 3 mos and 1st tooth by 6 mo.

Sounds from your dd's symptoms like a fang will emerge very soon.

Although I'm very sceptical of all things homeopathic, I found Ashton and Parson's teething powders worked amazingly with DS1, although not for DS2.

Will your dd take paracetamol syrup if she's really miserable?

I alternate calpol with baby nurofen when she's really bad which seems to help
