18 week old sleep pattern

morning,
my son is 18 weeks old and Im lucky that he has slept through the night from 10 weeks. However, this week he has started waking up earlier and earlier and this morning it was 4.45am!! I'd forgotten how vile that time of night is :)
He hardly sleeps during the day, just cat naps really so I dont think he's getting too much sleep daytime.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of pattern? Im hoping its just a phase and he'll settle back down again.

My DS never slept through until he was fully weaned at 7mo! Envy and my DD is even worse, sigh!
But friends of mine have told me about a mythical 4month sleep regression pattern where babies who slept through suddenly stop. They grow out of it after a while.
It might be that?

Think biggle is right re four month sleep regression. Also don't worry about the possibility of too much sleep during the day...if anything being over tired can make it harder for them to settle during the night.

Envy my ds didn't sleep through regularly till 15m!

Yep, 4 month sleep regression. I had one of those who was a terrible napper. Woke up at 4:30am every morning like clockwork, had a breastfeed and slept in bed with us until about 7am - it felt like this went on for months. He would only sleep in our bed with my nipple in his mouth - I got rather sore but was better than even less sleep! He sorted himself out and slept 11 hours at 6.5 months.
