Mumsnet, bullying and censorship!

What's the point in coming on to a forum for advice when you are just going to be picked on... I think mumsnet is just full of bitter, bigotted schoolyard bullies with nothing better than to make other parents feel bad!

Elaborate, please.

I have joined recently, came on to give advice and get advice from those that were out there. I have been shot down by various people discarding my comments but not offering anything in exchange. This is unlike any forum I have been on before!

I have not received one piece of information from anyone. Just bitchy comments! Is that really what this website is about??

I'm surprised too. Have to say that I have also had wonderful advice, particularly on this board. Less on aibu, but you get what you get from aibu!

One thing that sometimes throws new joiners is that people don't 'wrap it up' on mumsnet the way they do on other sites. You know, baby centre would be: 'I really feel for you hun and I know you're a wonderful mum. but have you considered x y and z? hugs xxxx'
Whereas mumsnet is: "What are you doing that for??! Try x, y and z." They assume that people don't need their advice sugar-coated and I prefer it that way myself, but it's not for everyone.

Plus you get a lot of healthcare and childcare professionals posting on mn which is not something go get on other sites. Probably because the professionals can't be arsed to wrap it up either.

I went on and looked at a video which someone had posted and said that I thought it was a pretty good product. Since then, I have been pretty much Ostracized from the group. I am not allowed to share my opinion.

Pagwatch, hparsnip and another user (extremum?) were kind of spamming some kind of overpriced website on a thread earlier. It was amateur stuff really but totally blatant advertising. I think a few people noticed!

I'm very embittered though. Make mine a lemon and embittered.

Youve posted 4 times outside of this time. Safe to say you haven't really attempted to get stuck in.

hparsnip I totally agree with you. There are MNetters who spend hours and hours on here, day after day - I would refer to them as hardcore! And there's lots of bullying by grown people, which I find very unsettling.

But worse than that, I bet if a survey was carried out on child-neglect there would be a high number of MNetters on the list.

It's a spammer, don't waste your sympathy.

If someone was trying to sell shit on a thread where a distressed mner was fretting about disability I would think them a total twat.
