DS3 aged 2 and 2 months wanted a dvd on. The video/dvd cabinet was locked because he trashes it otherwise. Ds2 found the key and gave it to him.

He's just unlocked the cabinet door with the key, then unlocked the other door(that has a latch type lock) got a DVD out, turned on the player, put the DVD in, and pressed play using the remote control.
Then sat back down on the sofa!!

He's 2 FGS....2.

This now means that no DVD will ever be watched all the way through ever again!

That sounds oh so familiar

DD 2.1 is exactly the same and will get whichever dvd takes her fancy and quite calmly put it on.

I know full well if I go upstairs for whatever reason I'll hear a little click from the tv unit.

Believe me it gets very annoying . Ds mastered the tv, video and dvcd player ages ago and it doesn't matter where put the dvds/videos, he still manages to get them and put one on.

LTH, I have a DS like that (19mo). DH found him putting a DVD into the DVD player the other day - the right way up - and closing the drawer. He already knows how to work the remote control. The only thing that lets him down is he hasn't quite figured out the lock on the cabinet - he knows which key it is, but it's a fiddly lock (thank goodness - or he'd be in there!). He also works DH's minidisc player and we often find him holding one earphone in, jigging along to the music!

DS didn't walk till he was 17mo...he was too busy developing his fine motor skills, I reckon

pinotgrigio · 24/11/2005 09:56

Yep, I've got one of those. DD mastered the DVD player at 18 months (didn't master talking until 2.5 though). I caught her correctly cabling in RGB leads to the external sockets on the TV last week - she's 2.11. [scared emoticon]

it's the key/unlocking both doors that's shocked me.
it's a really fiddly lock and the key rarely goes in straight on the first go.

I've now hidden the key

when we were younger my mum used to tie the video cabinate thing togtehr with string and an impossible knot (for kids) to undo!

it worked!

also you could try hiding the key then he cant get it!

LadyTophamHatt · 24/11/2005 10:23

I've got the key in my pocket now, so he'll have to mug me to get it know
