squealing

Hi There, I wonder if anyone can give me any advice/tips re squealing. My 10mth old little boy seems to have a few squealing sessions daily. He normally does it when he is restricted in some way (highchair, pram or trolley) but he used to do it on his playgym too. He doesn't seem particularly happy/unhappy when he does it. Is he just wanting attention, is he bored, is he exercising his lungs; I am just not sure how I should react. My mum says to ignore it but I find this easier said than done!
It does give me a real headache as it can take a while for him to shut up as terrible as it sounds it drives me nuts!!!

Ooo yes the squealing phase - not much you can do about it I'm afraid - they do grow out of it though (you'll be pleased to hear)

Is it something he's only just started to do? If so, it might just be that he's discovered he can do it, so he does it over and over. Plus, if you give him a reaction, it's even more incentive for him to keep going!

Ignore it if you can - the novelty will soon wear off either way.

mine did it, very loud, got bored of it within the fortnight.

afraid there is nothig muich you can do... the more attention you give him the more he'll do it! it's a great game... when you're 10 months old

or 23 months old if you're my DS2 - who was so busy doing other stuff "early" that he forgot about squealing........until we were in Morrisons the other day and squealed all the way round LOL.

I see, so it is normal and just a phase- oh well. He did occassionally when he was younger but he has een doing it loads over the last month. Sounds like Mum is right too! Christ, I hope he's not doing it in a year's time though!!
