dgs puts everything in his mouth and is now biting his nails, i'm surprised he has started so young..i suspect he likes something in his mouth and if nought else available he goes for his nails..is this the start of a bad habit or should we just ignore it?

other things he's fond of include elastic bands, map pins, little plastic suckers that stop the kitchen cupboard banging he bit them off the cupboards (so they have now been removed), sellotape

Hi ZTT. My dd2, who is 3, bites her nails and toe-nails (gross!). I tend to ignore it (unless the chomping noise gets too horrendous). I bite mine too, and no-one telling me how horrid it is has ever managed to make me stop. I don't like seeing my dd doing it, but I have decided not to make an issue of it for now. Not sure about the other stuff though... sorry. Just thought I'd let you know you're not alone.

Thanks I shall ignore it ..not sure there is much choice, he just likes things in his mouth..unfortunately I end up with loads of elastic bands because he is in a packing environment when I'm working and they get everywhere

on the bright side he was eating some toast the other day and came up to me and opened his mouth so i could remove elastic bands so he could swallow his toast!!!
