Baby Bully

I have a DD who is almost one and my sister has a Ds at 6 months, the problem is my little girl likes to hit him, she will toddle over and slap him on the head, with her hand or a toy- she loves him and does try t get him to play sometimes- she understands no but will not stop it, how can I stop her becoming a tiny bully?

This is really not a problem. Tell her no and remove her from the situation maybe sit her down with her back to you, but then let it go. DD is 18 months and wacks DS (who is 4, btw) and I do this. Then I tell her to say sorry and give DS a kiss. She can't say sorry yet but she does the kiss and this sends the right message to DS.

With younger children (DD has baby cousins) I teach her to stroke them gently and say "aah". She enjoys this.

same as mine who is 13 mths old and does slap on a babas head so its normal for that age but you must say "No" to your DD - HTH!

it dos help ta, she does think nephew is a babba, calls him cheeky cheeky because we do- so dont really understand why she likes to beat him up!! only thing i can think is that my dad is bald and she has always slapped his head, maybe she thinks its the same, but she does seem to enjoy a bit too much!!!

well... my baba used to pull Dps hair and dp thought it was funny (she never pulled mine as i dont like it) but she started to pull the babies hair so dps had put a stop to that now.

you can only learn though!

Maybe try to teach her how to touch them appropriately/affectionately - you know stroking the arm, that kind of thing.
