Jess is nearly 16 months and has started biting.... Me, DH and for the first time ever another child at toddlers today.

It was a really bad bite too and i felt SO bad.... what can i do to stop her? How do I punish her when out of the home? (Stick her in her cot for 5 minutes if at home)

DD is nearly 13 months and is doing this - I just say no loudly and say 'it hurts' (we are signing and do the sign for pain).
Not sure that it is sinking in but we keep trying.
I know that you have just had your new baby (congrats by the way) do you think it is some attention seeking?

She was biting herself before new baby, but its got really bad lately.

"NO" gets no-where - she laughs at us and does it again.

I dont know if i could bite her back - thats a bit cruel isnt it?!

When she bites stop whenever you were doing with her and say No then ignore her for a bit - if she tries to get your attention just say no I don't like biting. At the Pre-school I work at we make a fuss of the bitten person and ignore the biter for a bit. They usually get the idea but you have to be consistent.

i will try that pintomum.... something needs to work, before i break down completely and stop taking her out in public!
