will a fused adult tooth follow fused milk teeth?

Does anyone have a child who has/had a fused tooth? my 4 year old ds has, instead of two individual teeth, one large fused tooth. it is the top two incisors -middle and left - so not the two front teeth, one of them and it's neighbour.
anyway, the dentist has said not to worry, let's see what happens when the adult teeth come through/milk teeth fall out etc. however, having looked online (ugh) it seems to say that is worth xraying the adult teeth to see if extraction of the milk teeth is needed, incase the fused tooth is blocking one/both coming down.
i am hoping of course that his adult teeth will be "normal". can anyone share their experience of this?

Don't know what will happen yet as ds5 hasn't lost his yet, same teeth as yours he calls it his shark tooth, just thought would let you know not alone Smile
ds had cleft lip and not sure if it was related ...but orthodentist said will xray at 7 if not out by then as each child loses at different rate...he also advised some have fused adult as well but can't tell until xray..... if find out before will update!

thanks 3rdnparty, glad we're not alone! i am just hopeful the adult teeth come through "properly", and am curious as to other's experiences. thanks

I had this with two of my lower teeth. When they fell out, only one grew in their place. I'm sure I should have got braces but was phobic, so still have gappy teeth.

DS2 had two fused milk teeth (which should have been 4 individual teeth). I had a fit when they came through! He is now 18 and has lovely straight adult teeth. Don't worry :)
