i have a gap in my teeth, it's not that big these days, but when i had my milk teeth it looked as if i'd lost a tooth (good for whistling through though). i imagined my children may inherit this attractive feature and sure enough, there was a gap between dd1's teeth when they first came through, but they grew together and now she has no gap, so i wouldn't worry. and cosmetic dentistry is a wonderful thing nowadays, and will be even better by the time your dd is ready to take advantage of it.

and who knows, you may grow to like it...

According to chaucer the gap in the teeth is significant of something you probably didn't want to tell the world!

I had a gap between my two front teeth when I was young. My gran always told me it meant i'd be rich (am still waiting for this to happen...) which made me feel a bit better.

To be honest it never bothered me that much and I got it fixed with braces when I was a teen. Smile

MadameDeathstare, I have the same thing, i have a gap in my front teeth, and the gum bit from my lip goes all the way to my teeth. (not a great decription haha)

I was offered braces, surgery etc to fix it but it has never bothered me and I quite like my gap, so have kept it! I didnt feel it was worth it for me to get the braces, as I had nothing else that would have needed a brace apart from the gap, which wasn't essential work.

Lainey1981 · 23/05/2011 20:34

I think it is caused by lip tie where lip is joined to the gum.
My ds has this so assume when he gets teeth will have a gap at the front like dp's dad and dsis.

My DS had this when he was that age - is now 3 and no gap. Milk teeth don't have very deep roots and can/do move as the others come in.
