When my son was 1 the HV noted that the soft spot on his head had not closed and asked me to take him to the GP, I did this and the GP told me to monitor him for a few months as it is unusual but as his development was normal not to worry. He is now 15 mths and the soft spot still remains. I am going to go back to the GP but has anyone else had a child with such a late closing fontanel?

If you mean the anterior fontanelle on top of the head its 18 months to 2 years old although can be as early as 9 months see here and wiki

I have no experience but I think the gp is right to wait and see in the absence of any other problem. I wont worry for my son until he's at least 18 months.

Silly HV for unnecessarily panicking you.
