Twelve month old tantrums

My delightful DD who has hardly ever cryed and always been very contented has turned into a monster. She crys if I leave the room, she crys if I take something off her, she crys at mealtimes, she crys at bedtime etc... She crys if she can't reach something, frustration I think as she is not crawling or walking yet although trying to crawl I think!! As she isn't walking I sometimes think she is bored with the same old toys and to be honest so am I.

I feel guilty for saying this but she is hard work and today I couldn't wait for her to go down for her nap!!

Anyone else experiencing the same?

It's one of the things no-one ever tells you - the terrible 2s don't have to start at 2. My DD started her 'terrible 2s' at one year old, too.

As you said, I put it mostly down to frustration - not being able to reach the things she wanted, not being able to communicate as effectively as she wanted to and also being downright exhausted after days full of learning new words and from walking to running, walking backwards, etc ... every day a new skill. If she's trying to crawl, this could be a similar thing.

If it's any consolation, she started the TTs early, and finished early. Good luck!

PS. I found talking to her all the time about what I was doing and why, and what we were about to do before we did it really helped.

If it's any consolation at all, my one year old is precisely the same. She has also started crying and lying on the floor face down when she is having a tantrum. I really did think only 2 year olds did this!

I am going to cross my fingers that it will pass too, as I am exhausted by it!
