Baby development!

Hi all,

I have a 7 month old daughter and wondered about a few of the 'sillier' developmental milestones!

When do babies :-

put their arms up to be picked up
dance when they hear music
clap

And on a more normal note when do babies start crawling? I thought around 9months my husband says anytime from 7!

My DD is 10 and a half months and will out her arms up to be picked up, but only if I hold mine out as if I am going to pick her up, if you see what I mean. She's probably been doing this for about 6 weeks or so.

She loves music - mostly theme tunes to tv programmes and adverts (finish quantum and dettol complete clean are favourites) and will kick her legs like crazy when she hears them - has done this from about 7 months. In the last couple of days she has started to rock her upper body back and forth too.

She learned to clap her hand about a month ago - although it is more like bashing her left fist into her right hand like she's ready to knock someone out

I have no idea if these are the average ages for these developments, but this has been my experience. Will be watching this thread to see what is 'normal'.

oh and as for crawling, I think it is anywhere from 7 months or so, but dd hasn't crawled yet.

I don't think my dd crawled until about 10 or 11 months but she was a very late walker as well. Some of them maybe do crawl from 7. There is huge variation on this type of thing.

I have film of her 'dancing' in her high chair at 8 months but don't know if she'd been doing it before then.

Average for crawling is 9 months, so some will be earlier and some later. Mine were 10 months, 11 months, 9 months and 6 month old ds3 isn't crawling yet thank god

Not sure about dancing or putting arms up but ds3 reaches out for me when he is upset.

Not waving or clapping yet, but has just started patting a lot. And has learnt to bang and shake.

Every child is different. Ds put his arms up from around 7 months but was nearly 1 before he clapped. He didn't crawl until he was 11 months and walked at 13.

My 8 month old:

Arms to be picked up - 5 months
Danced (well rocked really!) to music - 5.5 months
Clapping - 7.5 months
Crawling - 7 months
Standing, pulling up, crusing - sam week he learned to crawl! Guess crawling just wasnt good enough huh!
